Iton Peony Mixed

are exceptional, low-maintenance garden plants. They combine the best of tree and herbaceous peonies: massive, long-lasting flowers (sometimes over 60 on a mature plant) with strong, self-supporting stems that do not require staking. These 3-foot by 4-foot plants bloom for up to 4 weeks and are ideal for borders and cut flowers, offering unique colors such as yellow, orange, and white with dark eyes.

Growing Conditions & Care:

  • Light: Full sun to light, dappled shade.
  • Soil: They require well-drained, fertile soil, ideally with a neutral pH.
  • Planting: Itoh peonies are best planted in full sun to part shade with the crown set 1–2 inches below the soil surface.
  • Fertilizer: Use a low-nitrogen, slow-release fertilizer in early summer after blooming.
  • Maintenance: Itoh peonies are low maintenance beauties that rarely need staking, even in heavy rain.
  • Pruning: Cut back to 4-6 inches above the ground in late autumn.

Uses In The Garden:

  • Specimen Plants: Due to their, low maintenance beauty and impressive, long-lasting flowers (up to 50 per plant), they make excellent focal points in the landscape.
  • Border Plants: They are perfect for sunny borders, creating a structured, rounded shrub-like appearance.
  • Low Hedging: They can be planted in rows along walkways or in front of fences, as seen in this guide to growing Itoh peonies.
  • Container Gardening: They thrive in large patio containers.
  • Cut Flowering: Their strong, woody stems hold up well in vases, offering a delicate fragrance
