Growing Conditions & Care:
- Light: Thrives in full sun to partial shade.
- Soil: Prefers moist, well-drained, slightly acidic to neutral soil, rich in organic matter. It does not tolerate “wet feet” (waterlogged soil).
- Shelter: Because the early flowers can be damaged by late frosts or wind, it is best to plant it in a sheltered position.
- Pruning: Prune minimally to maintain its shape, ideally in late summer or after flowering to avoid ruining the natural form.
- Hardiness: Generally cold-hardy.
- Dimensions: It typically grows to a height of 3.5–6 meters (approximately 15-20 ft) and a width of 1.5–3 meters (6-10 ft).
- Growth Rate: It is a relatively slow-growing, manageable tree, making it ideal for compact spaces.
- Appearance: It has an upright, slender, multi-branched form.
- Repeat Bloom: As an added bonus, it often produces a second, lighter flush of flowers during summer.
