Acer Palmatum ‘Koto Ito Komanchi’

is a rare, slow-growing dwarf Japanese maple known for its extremely fine, thread-like green foliage. It is often described as a “linearilobum” type, where the leaves are dissected into narrow, delicate lobes, giving the tree a lacy, airy appearance. The name roughly translates to “Little Thread of the Harp”.

Growing Conditions & Care:

  • Light: Prefers partial shade, especially in hotter climates, but can tolerate full sun in cooler regions.
  • Soil: Thrives in moist, well-drained, slightly acidic soil.
  • Maintenance: Low maintenance, with pruning best done in late winter or early spring to remove dead wood or shape the tree.
  • Hardiness: Generally hardy, but it is important to avoid letting the soil dry out, which can cause leaf scorch.

Uses In The Garden:

Its compact, slow-growing nature makes it an excellent choice for small gardens, courtyards, container planting, or bonsai.
